Making Attachments Visible on an Email in Salesforce

  • Updated
Note: The attachment subpanel within Salesforce must be made visible. To make it visible: Log in to Salesforce as an administrator, edit the layout for the task details view, and add the attachments related lists.

In Riva Cloud and Riva On-Premise, it is possible to make email attachments visible on an email in Salesforce.

Implementation for Riva Cloud

Implementation for Riva On-Premise

Riva 2.4.31 or higher

In Riva 2.4.31 or higher, it is possible to archive attachments to the email record itself instead of the default parent (Account) record.

Note: If a contact does not have a parent account, the attachments are not synced to Salesforce for that contact.

To turn on the feature:

  1. Start the Riva Manager application. If the menu bar displays Setup, select Setup.

  2. In the right pane, double-click the Salesforce connection.

  3. In the CRM Connection Edit window that appears, select the Options tab.

  4. Select the "Email: Attach attachment to email record, instead of parent record" check box.

Riva 2.4.28, 2.4.29, or 2.4.30

Riva has the Sync email attachments to task itself option, which is selected by default for all new Salesforce connections.

Riva 2.4.27

A Salesforce connection option allows attachments to be stored directly on the Salesforce Task record used to track the email, instead of on the parent record.

However, by default, Salesforce does not show the related attachment lists on the Task record type.

To show attachments that have synchronized to a task or email:

  1. Log in to Salesforce as an administrator.

  2. Edit the layout for the task details view.

  3. Add the attachments related lists.

Riva 2.4.27 and earlier

Attachments are always linked to the parent account record of the contact that the task or email is related to.

To be able to use the options described previously in this article, we recommend upgrading Riva On-Premise to the latest public release.
