Error: [INVALID_CROSS_REFERENCE_KEY] Task Record Type ID

  • Updated
In progress. This is the first draft, by Sophia.
Originally, Sophia wrote the following contents at the end of KB 2103, the configuration article for Riva Meetings, but I moved that here. Why?
The following is about Next Steps, so it's too specific for the Riva Meetings configuration article.
Also, it's about errors, and as such, should have been placed in an errors article similar to KB 1980.
And this is going to be the errors' article.
But, it hasn't been formatted like one for now, and the text is just the way Sophia wrote it.

There are a couple common errors that users might come across when creating tasks with the Capture Next Steps feature:

Issue

When a task is created in Riva Insight as a Salesforce admin:

Cause

Task metadata needs to be refreshed.

Solution

In Riva On-Premise, do as follows:

  1. Open the connection

  2. Go to the Object Definition tab

  3. Select Task from the object type dropdown

  4. Click Load available fields to select any field and add it to the selected fields box

  5. Click Save to update

After you save, you can go back to the same place and do the same thing except move the field back.

Issue

When a user attempts to create a Next Step task in Riva Insight:

Cause

Next Steps is enabled, but the settings in Salesforce are not set to the optimal settings for Next Steps to work.

Solution

This requires access to the system administrator account and configuring the Salesforce settings for Next Steps. After following the appropriate steps, you should be able to create next steps.
