- Salesforce Lightning and
- Salesforce Classic.
In both cases, these three editions are supported: Professional, Enterprise, and Unlimited.
Riva Cloud Salesforce connections support the OAuth protocol by default. With OAuth, Riva Cloud prompts the user to
- authenticate to Salesforce and
- grant permission for Riva Cloud to gain authorized access.
What are the advantages?
- The user only has to approve OAuth once. From that point on, Riva uses the approved OAuth security token when connecting.
- The Riva Cloud connection always works, regardless of how many times the user's Salesforce login password is changed.
- The user can always revoke the security token to prevent Riva Cloud from gaining access.
- "Trusted Network" does not have to be configured by the Salesforce admin.
To create and edit a Salesforce connection:
- Create a Riva Cloud connection for Salesforce using OAuth.
- Optionally set options on a connection.
- If required, verify the remote access token and revoke access.
Step 1: Create a Riva Cloud Connection for an "Active User" Salesforce User Account Using OAuth
To create a Riva Cloud connection to Salesforce using OAuth:
-
Ensure that you are not logged into Salesforce as any user. Be sure to log out of Salesforce completely, because closing the window is not enough.
-
Log in to Riva Cloud.
-
On the Get Started page, select Configure your CRM.
-
On the Select a supported platform page, select the Salesforce logo.
-
On the Salesforce page that appears, look under Supported Salesforce Editions and ensure that you have a supported version of Salesforce.
-
If you are connecting to a Salesforce Sandbox organization, look to the right. Under Connection Options, select the Use Salesforce Sandbox check box. In the Sandbox username suffix field that appears, provide the value for the suffix.
-
To the left, under Connect to Salesforce, read the messages, and select Connect to Salesforce using OAuth.
-
In the Salesforce login window that appears, authenticate to Salesforce with the user name and password for the connection.
-
Ensure that you are logged in as the correct user. If so, select Allow; otherwise, select Deny.
-
When you see Connection has been configured successfully, select OK.
Step 2: Optionally Set Options on a Connection
To set options on your Salesforce connection:
-
On the Salesforce Connection, select Edit.
-
If you need to re-validate a connection to Salesforce, select Re-validate Connection.
-
Configure this option.
-
Email: Relate attachment to email record, instead of parent record.
- If the check box is selected, email is synced as tasks into the Activity History lists for matched contacts. Attachments are linked to the email task record.
- If the check box is cleared, email attachments are synced to the parent record for the matched contacts rather than the specific email record.
-
Step 3: Verify the Remote Access Token and Revoke Access (If Required)
If necessary, the Salesforce user can verify and revoke the OAuth security token.
To verify the remote access token and (if required) revoke access:
-
Log in to Salesforce as the connection user.
-
Under the user name, on the drop-down, select Setup.
-
In the left column, select My Personal Information > Personal Information.
-
Point to Remote Access.
Result: A popup window displays the OAuth remote access token.
-
If you want to revoke the OAuth token, select Revoke.
Result: The Riva Cloud connection is immediately broken, and all data sync will fail.
