You can create Riva Cloud connections to Salesforce that rely on OAuth security tokens. Existing customers can convert. What are the advantages?
- The user only has to approve OAuth once. From that point on, the approved OAuth security token is used to connect.
- The Riva Cloud connection always works, regardless of how many times a user's Salesforce login password changes. Users can change their Salesforce password without having to remember to log in to Salesforce and change the connection password.
- At any time, the user can revoke the security token to prevent Riva Cloud from gaining access.
- The "Trusted Network" setup in Salesforce is no longer required.

How to Change a User Name for a Riva Cloud Connection for Salesforce That Uses "Re-Validate Connection"
- Disable the sync policy.
- Make sure that you are not logged in to Salesforce as any user.
- On the Riva Cloud Dashboard, next to the Salesforce connection, select Edit.
-
In the browser location field, append "-oauth" (without the quotation marks) to the current URL and press Enter.
-
Confirm that the User name and Salesforce Organization ID are correct.
-
Select Re-Validate Connection.
- In the Salesforce login window that appears, authenticate into Salesforce. Use the user name and password for the connection, and select Log In.
- Ensure that you are logged in as the correct user. If you are logged in correctly, select Allow; otherwise, select Deny.
- When you see Connection has been configured successfully, select OK.
WARNING: Before enabling the synchronization policy, always verify the Salesforce user name that is displayed.
Test and Configure the New Connection
When the Dashboard page re-appears, you need to test and configure the new connection.
- Disable the sync policy.
- Make sure that you are not logged in to Salesforce as any user.
-
On the Riva Cloud Dashboard, select the overflow menu on the top right of the Salesforce connection.
There are two (2) ways to test the connection password or token:
Selecting the Test Connection option after selecting the overflow menu on the Connections view1; or
After selecting Edit, scroll to the very bottom of the Connection Details Window and select the Test Connection button as shown below, in Step 4 of this document, after the Tailor Connection View.
1 Selecting the Test Connection option from the overflow menu in the Connections view will take you to another view that allows you to tailor the connection test to your use case.
- Near the bottom of the window, below Advanced Options, select Test Connection.
Depending on the test results, proceed as follows:
- If the test passes (that is, the connection is working), select Save or Cancel.
-
If the test fails, re-validate a connection or change its password, and test the connection again.
If, after a password change or connection re-validation, the connection test still fails, contact the Riva Success Team for assistance.
Verify the Remote Access Token and Revoke Access
At any time, the Salesforce user can verify and revoke the OAuth security token if necessary.
The following procedure works in both Salesforce Classic and Salesforce Lightning.
- Log in to Salesforce as the connection user.
- Near the top right, select Setup.
- In the left side menu, look under Administer, and expand Manage Users.
- Under Manage Users, select Users.
- Select the name of the user that you want to edit.
-
On the User page that appears, hover the mouse cursor over the OAuth Connected Apps link.
-
In the OAuth Connected Apps pop-up window that appears, verify the token. If you want to revoke it, select Revoke to the left of the token.
Note: Revoking the token immediately breaks the Riva Cloud connection, and all data sync will fail for the users who were using that connection.
