Normally, in a multi-node Riva 2.4.42 or higher deployment, a user is permanently assigned to a sync node. If the user is removed from the sync policy and re-added to it, the user is re-assigned to the same sync node. This is called a "sticky" behaviour. For more information, see Global Sync Configuration.
At times, it is necessary to remove a user permanently from a sync node:
- When a user was incorrectly assigned to a node.
- When too many users have been assigned to a node.
- When testing.
After being removed, the user is re-detected and assigned to another node.
In Riva 2.4.44 or earlier, there was no user-friendly mechanism to remove a user permanently from a sync node.
Starting in Riva 2.4.45, there is.
To remove a user permanently from a sync node:
-
In Riva 2.4.45 or higher, start the Riva Manager application. On the menu bar, select Tools, and then choose Configure Remote Management.
-
In the left pane, under Services, select Global Sync Configuration Service.
-
In the Details pane, drill down to a policy node, and select it.
-
In the rightmost pane, right-click the user that you want to remove, point to Manage User Registration, and choose Delete User Registration (caution).
The system will re-detect the user and assign it to another node.
