When Riva syncs email and calendar items, a match is performed against CRM contacts. By default, that process includes closed CRM contacts. In Riva 2.4.35 or higher, it is possible to skip matching against closed contacts.
To skip closed contacts while searching for contacts from email, appointments, and meetings:

In Windows Services, stop the Riva sync service.

In the Riva Manager application, apply the following advanced option to the sync policy or CRM connection:
Sync.Crm.AllowMatchToClosedItem.Contact = false (Disregard closed contacts when searching for contacts in the CRM. Setting the option to true would include closed contacts in the search. Default: true.)

Start the Riva sync service.
Result: Closed contacts are ignored when email addressees and appointment invitees are matched to CRM contacts and leads.
