Improved Authentication Flows (Outlook Web Add-in)
Riva Insight now supports Nested App Authentication for Outlook add-ins, providing a more seamless, secure, and efficient authentication experience. This enhancement allows Riva Insight to leverage pre-established authentication flows, reducing redundant sign-ins and improving user convenience. Nested App Authentication was recently released by Microsoft, which was built specifically for Outlook Web add-ins.
Key Benefits:
- Enhanced security with streamlined token management.
- Improved user experience by minimizing authentication prompts.
This update ensures a smoother interaction between users and add-ins, optimizing both security and usability within Outlook.
Single Sign-On (SSO) for Outlook on Mobile (Outlook Web Add-in)
Through the introduction of Nested App Authentication, Riva Insight is now able to offer a seamless sign-on experience for Outlook on Mobile.
- Seamless Single Sign-On (SSO): Users can access Riva Insight without repeated logins, making navigation faster and smoother. Existing authentication tokens, are able to be reused across Microsoft 365 serviced used by Riva insight (Login with Microsoft, Graph API).
- Optimized App Performance: Streamlined authentication means fewer delays, allowing Riva Insight on Outlook Mobile to launch and function more efficiently.
These improvements create a more fluid, secure, and user-friendly mobile experience.
Conditional Access Policies (CAP) Compliance (Outlook Web Add-in)
With nested app authentication, Riva Insight now leverages Microsoft Authentication Library (MSAL) client-side authentication to improve compliance with Conditional Access Policies (CAP), and provide a more seamless experience for users accessing Riva Insight on Outlook Mobile.
Key Benefits:
- Proper Device Recognition for CAP Compliance – Unlike server-side MSAL, which identifies the server as the requesting device, client-side MSAL correctly associates authentication requests with the actual end-user device, ensuring CAP enforcement is accurate.
- Improved Access Control & Security – Users experience fewer access restrictions caused by misidentified devices, allowing smoother authentication while maintaining strong security policies.
- Seamless Outlook Mobile Integration – With correct device recognition, users can reliably access the Riva Insight web add-in without unnecessary authentication failures.
- Enhanced Flexibility & User Experience – Client-side authentication offers more efficient session management, reducing disruptions and making access to Microsoft 365 services more intuitive.
This shift resolves past authentication challenges, strengthens security, and ensures compliance with Microsoft 365’s access policies—all while enhancing user productivity.
On-Send Prompt for Email & Meeting Tracking (Outlook Web Add-in)
Available as early-access. Contact us if you want to try it out!
We have introduced an On-Send Prompt for Riva Insight, ensuring important emails and meeting requests are tracked before sending. This feature helps users maintain CRM accuracy and avoid missing critical tracking opportunities.
How It Works:
- Automatic Detection – The add-in checks whether an email or meeting request has been tracked (classified for CRM).
- On-Send Prompt – If not tracked and external recipients or attendees are present, the user receives a notification to track before sending.
- Configurable prompt options – Users can enable prompts for emails, meetings, or both, ensuring tracking is aligned with their needs.
- Customizable Message – The notification message can be tailored to suit organizational preferences, providing clear guidance before sending.
- Seamless Workflow – Users can quickly confirm tracking, ensuring key communications are properly logged in CRM.
Key Benefits:
- Improves CRM Data Integrity by ensuring relevant emails and meetings are recorded.
- Prevents Oversights by prompting users before sending untracked communications.
- Enhances Productivity with an effortless tracking reminder, reducing manual follow-ups.
This update streamlines CRM integration, boosts efficiency, and reduces the risk of missed tracking, ensuring users stay organized and compliant.
