Overview

Riva Insight supports multiple authentication methods to help users access Salesforce data directly from Microsoft Outlook. This document compares Login with Microsoft and Login with Salesforce, highlighting how Microsoft-based login improves usability, reduces friction, and encourages adoption.

Why User Adoption Matters

User adoption is critical to the success of Riva Insight. The easier it is for users to access and stay connected, the more likely they are to engage consistently. Login with Microsoft offers a frictionless experience that aligns with users' existing workflows, making it the preferred method for driving adoption across your organization.

When authentication is seamless, users are more likely to explore features, rely on the tool daily, and integrate it into their workflow. Reducing login complexity not only improves satisfaction but also accelerates onboarding and minimizes support requests. For organizations deploying Riva Insight at scale, choosing an authentication method that supports effortless access is essential to maximizing ROI and user engagement.

Login with Microsoft: Key Advantages

FeatureDescription
Seamless AccessUsers are authenticated using their Microsoft Outlook login—no need to enter credentials.
Manual Salesforce Connection (Once)After logging in with Microsoft, users are prompted to manually connect to Salesforce once.
Persistent ConnectionOnce connected, users remain authenticated with Salesforce across sessions—even after logout or restart.
Custom Domain SupportRiva Insight uses the custom Salesforce domain configured in the Riva Cloud sync policy. This requires additional configuration but ensures consistent routing.
No Domain Selection RequiredWhen multiple Salesforce customer domains are configured, users do not need to manually select the correct domain when connecting via Login with Microsoft.
Automatic ReconnectionIf a user is logged out unexpectedly, Riva Insight automatically logs them back in.
Logout ResilienceIf a user explicitly logs out, the Salesforce connection remains intact when they log back in.
Future-ProofingA future release will eliminate the need to reconnect to Salesforce after Insight version upgrades.
