Migrating from Riva On-Premise to Riva Cloud

There are several reasons for migrating to Riva Cloud.

  • No server maintenance
  • Automatic updates
  • Enhanced Security
  • Data Compliance
  • Regular monitoring
  • High Availability
  • Service Level Agreements

Before starting to plan your migration to Riva Cloud, you must connect with the Riva Support Team (Client Success) and the Sales team. We can walk you through what the migration will look like and provide you with some helpful tips to ensure its success. We can also help you understand the billing structure and what changes you can expect from Riva Cloud.

At a high level, these are the steps necessary for migrating to Riva Cloud:

  1. Register a Riva Cloud account - please work with the Success team to help you register the account.
    1. Choose your data residency - to ensure data compliance, ensure you select your data residency accordingly.
  2. Choose your "mode". Riva Cloud has two modes. Corporate mode and Company mode. Corporate mode is the most common and is used to sync many users with a service/admin account. Company mode requires that each user set up and configure their account: https://support.rivasync.com/hc/en-us/articles/23501803873812
  3. Create your connection. The following Knowledge Base article describes getting started with Riva Cloud Corporate, including configuring your connections (CRM/Email): https://support.rivasync.com/hc/en-us/articles/23503832388116
  4. The next step requires some coordination with our teams. You will need to stop the Riva services On-Premise and archive some data that will need to be sent to our team to apply to your new Riva Cloud account.
    1. It is important that once the Riva services are stopped On-Premise they are not turned back on. We strongly suggest that you uninstall them. The following Knowledge Base Article describes decommissioning the Riva On-Premise server: https://support.rivasync.com/hc/en-us/articles/24023007013524
    2. The following files and folders need to be zipped and sent to Riva. The Riva Success Team can provide you with a secure SharePoint link to upload the files, should you need it.
      1. Configuration folder
      2. Custom folder
      3. Transaction folder
      4. Note, that these files can be easily packaged and secured using the Riva Migration tool. To export a policy and its associated configuration and transactions;
        1. Right-click on the policy and select  "Export for Migration".
        2. On the next screen, select the policies (if more than one) that you want to export.
          1. If the team asks you to provide additional files, you can manually add them to the export package.
          2. IMPORTANT: Copy and make a record of the password. We will need this password in order to access these files and apply them to your Riva Cloud account.
        3. Select Export.
        4. Select Yes on the next - this is your final reminder to copy the password. Select OK.
        5. Select a location to save the .riva export package.
        6. Send the package to Riva. Send the password in a separate email (DO NOT INCLUDE IN THE ZENDESK TICKET).
    3. Once this information is received, our team will work to have your configuration applied to the Riva Cloud account.
