Name Conflict When Uploading Multiple Manifests to a Single Microsoft Tenant

Overview

When deploying Riva Insight org-wide in Microsoft 365, some organizations maintain multiple Riva environments (for example: Dev, UAT, and Prod). In these cases, you may need to upload multiple Riva Insight Outlook Web Add-in manifests to the same Microsoft 365 tenant.

If more than one manifest uses the same add-in name (for example, “Riva Insight”), Microsoft 365 will block the upload and display an error indicating that an item with that name already exists.

This article explains the problem and how to resolve it by modifying the manifest name before uploading it to your tenant.

For background on obtaining the manifest URL and using the manifest generator, see the Riva Insight Manifest Generator article. Manifest generator

Resolution: Modify the Manifest Name Before Uploading

To avoid the name conflict, you must give each manifest a distinct Outlook Web Add-in Title before exporting and uploading it to Microsoft 365.

Step 1 – Open the Riva Insight Manifest Generator

  1. Go to the Riva Insight Manifest Generator page.
Use the appropriate URL for your Riva Insight Cloud data center or on-premise deployment as documented here. Manifest generator

Step 2 – Edit the Outlook Web Add-in Ribbon Title

  1. On the Manifest Generator page, locate the field for “Outlook Web Add-in Title” (or equivalent title/name field).
  2. Change the title to something unique for that environment, for example:
    • Riva Insight – Dev
    • Riva Insight – UAT
    • Riva Insight – Prod

Ensure the new title is slightly different from any Riva Insight add-in name that already exists in your Microsoft 365 tenant.

Step 3 – Download the Manifest XML

  1. After updating the title, download the manifest XML file from the Manifest Generator.

Step 4 – Upload the Updated Manifest to M365

  1. In the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, upload the updated manifest as a custom app for your organization, using the standard deployment steps for the Riva Insight Outlook Web Add-in. Org-wide install

Because the add-in title is now unique, the name conflict should be resolved, and the manifest should upload successfully.
