Issue
When attempting to authenticate Salesforce with Riva Insight, a user may receive the following OAuth error:
“User is not admin approved to access this app.”
Cause
This error occurs when the Salesforce Connected App used by Riva Insight is configured with the access policy:
- “Admin approved users are pre-authorized.”
When this setting is enabled, users must be explicitly granted access to the Connected App through their Salesforce Profile or a Permission Set. If the affected user has not been granted access, Salesforce blocks the OAuth authorization attempt.
Resolution
Grant the affected user access to the Riva Insight Connected App through their Salesforce Profile or Permission Set.
Recommended steps for restricted Salesforce environments
- Log in to Salesforce as an administrator or as the connection user.
- Go to Setup.
- Navigate to Apps → Connected Apps → Manage Connected Apps.
Open the Riva Insight Connected App.
The Connected App may also be named Riva.
- Under Profiles or Permission Sets, confirm that the affected user’s Profile or assigned Permission Set has been granted access.
- Save the changes.
- Have the affected user retry the Salesforce login or OAuth authorization.
Additional notes
If you are unable to locate the Connected App, log in as the connection user and navigate to:
- Setup → Apps → Connected Apps → Manage Connected Apps
Look for a Connected App named Riva Insight or Riva.
